Article Summary

A new survey from Wolters Kluwer reveals that while healthcare professionals recognize the potential of generative AI, many organizations lack the infrastructure to implement it effectively. Only eighteen percent of respondents reported having formal policies governing AI use, and just twenty percent said staff were required to undergo structured training.

Concerns about ethical oversight and regulatory preparedness remain widespread. Forty-five percent of respondents said their workplaces were unprepared to address ethical concerns surrounding AI, while forty-two percent felt their organizations lacked readiness for upcoming regulations.

Despite these gaps, healthcare professionals see AI as a solution for administrative burdens. Sixty-seven percent believe AI could streamline prior authorization processes, while more than sixty percent see potential benefits for electronic health record management. Nearly seventy percent also expect AI to enhance cybersecurity preparedness, addressing growing threats in the sector.

While AI adoption in healthcare workplaces lags, personal use is more common. More than half of respondents reported using AI at least once a week in their personal lives, yet forty percent said they had never used it professionally.
